Andy Warhol’s West: Playing with Cowboys and Indians

Andy Warhol’s Cowboys and Indians suite—one of the last major projects completed prior to his death in 1987—consists of 10 classic Western images that he altered in his characteristic style. The Briscoe Museum’s exhibition features the relatively unknown suite plus four additional test prints not originally released with the portfolio.  Hopkins investigates Warhol’s Western-themed work—a culmination of the artist’s lifelong interest in the region—and its influence on other Western artists.

Held in conjunction with Andy Warhol: Cowboys and Indians exhibition.
