Shawn Cameron

Shawn Cameron

As a child, Shawn began drawing the horses, cattle and cowboys around her. Her family’s pioneer ranching history, which began over a century and a half ago, continues to inspire her.   Resource material is gathered on the ranch of family and cowboys as they work then the captured memories are transformed into oil paintings using a limited palette with colors selected for the temperature and time of day.  The mentoring of several professional artists helped her work to grow and evolve into a career spanning over two decades.

Among her honors are the "Co-Featured Artist" at the C.M. Russell Show in 2008 and the "Artist Choice Award" at the Cowgirl Up Show in 2007. Her work has graced the cover of many posters, and publications including Western Horseman Magazine.

Shawn has been invited to participate in such shows as the Prix de West and Small Works Great Wonders at the Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK; the Cowgirl Up! Art from the Other Half of the West at the Desert Caballeros Museum in Wickenburg, AZ; The C.M. Russell Show and Sale at the C. M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, MT; Night of Artists at the Briscoe Museum in San Antonio, Texas; Heart of the West at the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in Ft. Worth, Texas; Great American Miniatures at Settler's West Gallery in Tucson, AZ and the Masters in Miniature at the Phippen Museum in Prescott, AZ.  She is represented by Trailside Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ and Jackson Hole, WY.
