Xiang Zhang

Xiang Zhang graduated with a bachelor of fine arts in set design from Central Academy of Drama in Beijing in 1982, and a master's degree in fine art from Tulane University in New Orleans in 1989.

Zhang now focuses on his art full-time at his studio in Texas. His definitive style has catapulted him to new heights in the Western art world. During the past several years, Zhang has expanded his paintings to include more historical depictions of the West, including a series on the Oklahoma Land Rush.  He is a signature member of Oil Painters of America and a member artist of the Portrait Brokers of America.

Six of the artist’s paintings were featured in the 2006 book, Western Tradition, and three of his paintings grace a new book entitled Texas Tradition. His artworks have been featured in Art of the West, Focus Santa Fe, Southwest Art, and other magazines. He was also featured in the book The Master Works of Distinguished Chinese Oil Painters, published in 2007.

Zhang has participated in the Prix de West Exhibition at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. This year marks his debut participation in Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition and Sale at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles.

Zhang is represented by Southwest Gallery, Dallas and McLarry Fine Art, Santa Fe.
