Ragan Gennusa

Ragan Gennusa lives in the Texas Hill country near Dripping Springs. A wildlife and western painter, he has worked by commission for many years and his paintings hang in private and corporate collections nationwide. 

In 1995 he did three paintings for New York Life Insurance Company commemorating their 150th Anniversary which hang in their corporate office in New York.

Owning Texas Longhorn Cattle since 1984 and researching them extensively, many of his paintings honor this historical breed.

The Texas State Legislature selected Gennusa as the Texas State Artist for 1986-1987. In 2005, he was the recipient of the Star of Texas Award from the Gillespie County Historical Society, and the following year he received the John Ben Shepperd, Jr. Award from the Texas Historical Foundation for his outstanding achievement in historic preservation.

Several of his longhorn paintings are prominently displayed In the University of Texas Alumni Center, while others symbolizing the University of Texas football program hang in the UT Athletic Department.
