The Bowman Family

Ruth McLean Bowman Bowers left a legacy of philanthropic
giving and community service to San Antonio, South Texas,
and beyond. Her legacy has lived on through her children
and grandchildren. Ruth’s children have positively impacted
many lives through their longstanding generosity to
numerous causes throughout the community. Their support
at the Briscoe created the Ruth McLean Bowman Bowers
Women of the West Gallery, where children and visitors
learn about the critical role women played in shaping the
West. With their help and advocacy, the Briscoe Western
Art Museum has become one of the premier Western art
museums in the U.S.
