Wild Horses of the West By J. Edward De Steiguer
When the Spanish explorers brought horses to North America, the horses were, in a sense, returning home. Beginning with their origins fifty million years ago, the wild horse has been traced from North America through Asia to the plains of Spain’s Andalusia and then back across the Atlantic to the ranges of the American West. When given the chance, these horses simply took up residence in the landscape that their ancestors had roamed so long ago.

Join the Briscoe Book Club for discussion in an academic and social gathering as we explore great works of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction inspired by the vast and varied experiences of the American West. We will discuss a new book each quarter. Books are available for purchase at the Museum Store or you can reserve copies for check out through the San Antonio Public Library system prior to each meeting.

Briscoe Book Club is FREE and will meet at 6:30pm in the Clingman Education Gallery. Light bites will be served.

Dr. Paivi Hoikkala, faculty member at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, leads Briscoe Book Club.
