Warrior Women tells the story of Madonna Thunder Hawk, a leader in the American Indian Movement, and her daughter, Marcy, as they continue to fight for Native rights. Through their story, the film explores what it means to balance a movement with motherhood and how activist legacies are passed down from generation to generation in the face of a government that has continually met native resistance with mass violence.
Documentary filmmaker/producer Julianna Brannum (Comanche Nation) curated the 2019 Native Film Series and will lead a discussion after the screening. Included with museum admission.
