A Message To Our Members From Dr. Michael Duchemin, President & CEO
Dear Briscoe Members,
While the museum is closed, I want to express on behalf of our board of directors, management, and staff, our very best wishes for your continued health and happiness. Stay healthy, stay safe, and stay happy. Make the Briscoe a part of your day by checking in on the museum’s website, on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Vimeo, and through our regular e-newsletters to you, our members. Stay tuned, because we are developing exclusive members only content and opportunities for engagement.
There is no time like the present to recognize the value of art in society and culture. Art provides both beauty and can act as a distraction to take us out of our daily lives into another place where the days pass differently, more serenely, more thoughtfully, than they do on television or the news channels. In particular, spend some time with the Night of Artists Gallery.
The Gallery includes an exhibition of 304 original artworks by 80 of the best Western artists working today. The exhibition incorporates many different styles and palettes and includes traditional and modern Western art. Sit and explore the online gallery with family and friends if you are together, or gather on FaceTime or Zoom if you are separated. Whenever I visit the gallery I am reminded of my youth, going through the Sears-Roebuck Wish Book at Christmastime. As you are aware, Night of Artists is a fundraiser for the museum. I think you will be pleasantly surprised to see how many artworks have already sold, and by the number of high-quality works still available to purchase.
I encourage you to learn a little bit more about each artist from their biography and photo available on the website. Each artist brings their unique story to life through their inspiring works. We will be adding audio and video features that profile in depth many of the artists represented in the exhibition. There are meet-ups being planned for members to spend some time with their favorite artists on Zoom and Facebook Live, and lots of other interesting avenues for engagement. Later this summer, we are planning for you to meet the artists in person, July 24-26, when we celebrate the closing weekend of the Night of Artists Exhibition and the National Day of the Cowboy.
From the Briscoe Family to yours, stay well.
Dr. Michael Duchemin, President & CEO
