Join us for a Gallery Talk at the Briscoe Western Art Museum for a discussion of how the Spanish colonial mission sites shaped the American West. The program makes the connections between Spanish colonialism, the mission sites, and icons of the West like the cowboy, the horse, and the bison. Included with museum admission.
Mission San José Saturday, Nov 6 11 am
Families are invited to join the Briscoe at the San José Mission as we learn about the history of the Spanish Missions. After a short presentation, families will be able to design and build their own missions out of recyclable and found materials. This family program is great for all ages and all are welcome to participate.
The Briscoe Western Art Museum and National Parks Service Teams are committed to educating the San Antonio community about the history and art of our city, which started with the establishment of the Spanish colonial missions. The Briscoe Western Art Museum is proud to host a diverse collection of artwork and artifacts featuring the San Antonio missions.
After building your own mission at Mission San José, families are encouraged to stay and tour the mission, as well as the other mission sites in San Antonio. The Briscoe Western Art Museum is proud to host a diverse collection of artwork and artifacts featuring the San Antonio Missions
